Spain autonomous communities shape quiz
This shape quiz asks you to recognize Spain's 17 autonomous communities from isolated outlines. With neighboring regions and map position removed, coastlines, proportions, boundary angles, and island groups become the main clues.
Begin with distinctive silhouettes
Andalusia has a broad southern profile with both Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts. Galicia has an indented Atlantic coastline, while Catalonia combines a Mediterranean edge with the northeastern border. The long eastern outline of the Valencian Community is different from the more compact Region of Murcia.
Compare the large inland communities
Castile and León and Castilla–La Mancha are both extensive inland communities, but their contours and proportions differ. Aragon is another large interior shape, whereas Madrid forms a compact silhouette. Small northern communities such as Cantabria, La Rioja, and Navarre reward attention to individual bends rather than apparent size.
Island outlines matter
- Identify the Balearic Islands as a Mediterranean island group
- Recognize the Canary Islands by their chain of separate islands
- Use coastal detail for Galicia, Asturias, the Basque Country, and Andalusia
- Compare neighboring inland shapes in pairs
Combine shape and map practice
The silhouettes are displayed at a useful size, so their on-screen scale does not represent real area. If two answers remain difficult, return to the Spain map quiz to review their neighbors, then retry them as standalone shapes. Alternating between both game types builds stronger visual recall.
