Argentina provinces map quiz

Learn the locations of Argentina’s 23 provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires with this interactive map quiz. The country stretches from the subtropical north to Tierra del Fuego, so recognizing broad geographic regions makes all 24 jurisdictions easier to place.

Build the map from north to south

Begin in the northwest with Jujuy and Salta, then add Tucumán, Catamarca, La Rioja, and Santiago del Estero. In the northeast, identify Formosa, Chaco, Misiones, Corrientes, and Entre Ríos. Misiones forms the narrow northeastern extension between Paraguay and Brazil.

Use the Andes and the Pampas as anchors

The western provinces follow the Andes: San Juan lies below La Rioja, Mendoza below San Juan, and Neuquén farther south. Córdoba and San Luis connect this western group with the central plains. Buenos Aires Province occupies a large part of the Pampas, while the much smaller Autonomous City of Buenos Aires sits by the Río de la Plata.

Follow Patagonia to the southern tip

South of the Pampas, place La Pampa and Río Negro before continuing through Chubut and Santa Cruz to Tierra del Fuego. The long north–south sequence is useful, but remember that Neuquén lies west of Río Negro and that Santa Cruz borders Chile along most of its western side.
