Brittany and Normandy anchor the northwest, Hauts-de-France the north, Grand Est the northeast, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur the Mediterranean southeast. These outer regions create a frame for the larger interior areas.
Names and merged regions
Several modern region names combine older geographic identities, which can make recall harder than recognizing the shape. Pair each full name with one clear map position instead of relying only on familiar cities.
