Argentina provincial capitals map quiz
Match the capitals of Argentina’s 23 provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires with the correct jurisdictions on the map. Learning each city together with its province connects place-name knowledge with Argentina’s regional geography.
Begin with familiar pairs
Start with Córdoba–Córdoba, Mendoza–Mendoza, Salta–Salta, Santa Fe–Santa Fe, and San Juan–San Juan. La Plata is the capital of Buenos Aires Province, while Buenos Aires corresponds to the autonomous city. Keeping these two jurisdictions separate is one of the most important parts of the quiz.
Learn the northern capitals by region
In the northwest, connect Jujuy with San Salvador de Jujuy, Tucumán with San Miguel de Tucumán, Catamarca with San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, and Santiago del Estero with its namesake capital. In the northeast, pair Chaco with Resistencia, Formosa with Formosa, Misiones with Posadas, Corrientes with Corrientes, and Entre Ríos with Paraná.
Continue through the center and Patagonia
Pair La Rioja with La Rioja, San Luis with San Luis, La Pampa with Santa Rosa, and Neuquén with Neuquén. Farther south, Río Negro has Viedma, Chubut has Rawson, Santa Cruz has Río Gallegos, and Tierra del Fuego has Ushuaia.
Make the pairs stick
- Say the province and capital aloud after every answer
- Group capitals into the northwest, northeast, center, Cuyo, and Patagonia
- Review La Plata and Buenos Aires as separate answers
- Use the province map quiz whenever you know a capital name but not its location
