This Mexico state capitals quiz asks you to match a capital city with the correct federal entity on the map. It covers the capitals of all 31 states plus Mexico City, which is a federal entity and the national capital rather than a state.
Learn the straightforward pairs first
Several capitals share a name with their state. Aguascalientes, Campeche, Chihuahua, Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Tlaxcala, and Zacatecas are useful early anchors. Mexico City is also a direct name match in the quiz, although its administrative status is different.
These pairs reduce the amount of new vocabulary, but you still need to find the right area. A familiar city name is only helpful when it is connected to the state's actual position.
